As different ethnic groups continued to grow in our community, more languages were added to prayer meetings. On June 10, 2013, we dedicated the All Nations Prayer Room to the Lord where prayer with worship was led 85 hours per week in nine languages—Spanish, Korean, Chinese, Russian, Arabic, Farsi, Portuguese, French, and German. Founded 12 years ago by Mike Bickle, a self-trained evangelical pastor, with a group of 20, the International House of Prayer, in a former strip mall, now draws tens of thousands of worshipers to its revival meetings. A wholly devoted cadre of 1,000 staff members, labeled missionaries, have given up careers to move here, living off donations and spending several hours a day in the prayer hall to revel in what they describe as direct communication with God. Another thousand students attend the adjacent Bible college, preparing to spread this fervent brand of Christianity.

Following in this tradition, in 1999 the International House of Prayer started a prayer and worship meeting in Kansas City. On September 19, 2009, while celebrating our ten-year anniversary together, we made a sober commitment before God to combine 24/7 prayers for justice with 24/7 works of justice until the Lord returns. However, at that time, we set our heart to significantly increase our outreach and ministry to others outside our missions base. Thus, we are developing many new outreach ministries that will continue 24/7 alongside our 24/7 prayer and worship. We expanded our setup to seven cameras and our schedule to full-time streaming.

On May 7, 1999, the International House of Prayer began in the “old trailers” on Grandview Road, with 13 hours of prayer and worship each day. Mike Bickle and a small group of intercessors and worship leaders staffed the prayer room. Our hearts overflow with thanks to the Lord for His grace and faithfulness to us over the years. Forerunner School of Prayer, which would later become International House of Prayer University, was founded in 1999, equipping people to intercede and lead a lifestyle of prayer. Over the last 25 plus years, the Lord has graciously given us about 25 powerful prophetic experiences that provide insight into what will happen in the days ahead in Kansas City, the USA, and other nations.

Around 1000 BC, King David established a tabernacle in Jerusalem and set a precedent of night and day worship before the Lord that continued at various times throughout Israel and Judah’s history. Each time this order of worship was reintroduced, spiritual breakthrough, deliverance and military victory followed. Likewise, throughout the centuries, groups in Ireland, Germany, South Korea, and elsewhere across the globe have established day and night centers of prayer and worship.
After receiving specific direction from the Lord, Mike called churches in Kansas City to a 21-day solemn assembly of prayer and fasting. During that time, the Lord gave a prophetic word to do “24/7 prayer in the spirit of the tabernacle of David.” This birthed 16 years of prayer meetings held three times per day at the church Mike was pastoring. He now says the word was the continuation of what he had first heard in the hotel in Cairo eight months earlier, that the two words are linked. Our missions base offers a series of activities and training programs that occur on a weekly basis, such as classes from our bible school, internships, evangelism opportunities, prayer meetings, and more.
